Only fools start out on liter bikes. If its truely your first bike buy a 08 ninja 250R and learn how to ride n dont worry about looking cool n flexing your edick. If you buddies tell you go big or dont go at all, or if you dont have a liter you dont have a peter, tell those ignorant SOB's to kiss off.

well i didnt read all 9 pages but, i started riding 12 years ago on a 95 katana 600. rode it for 2 years, then went to a gsxr 750. three years after that i went to a bandit 1200, then to triumph speed triple after 36,000 miles on my bandit 34,000 miles later i traded up to my 06 cbr1000rr. i have almost 100,000 miles of riding under me. each bike i had i put near 20-30k miles on. i missed the handling of my 750 and wanted a better handling bike then my speedtriple. i got a great deal on my 06 1k cheaper then i could have gotten a 07 600rr. do i need the power? not realy, butif ridden properly it is not that hard to control. imight have gotten the 600rr if it was as cheap as the 06 1k i found. power is not everything. i ride with a guy on a sv 650 that out runs my triple. i say but the 600 not a 250 learn to ride it, then realy learn to ride it. most mortals will never push a600rr past its limits on the street. i know i will never come near the limits of the 1k.
