What have you done to your CBR 1000f today?
Got the carbs back on and W0W no pause and BAM right to 12k!!!
But she smoked???? that has never happened before??? I thought it might be the Vaseline I used to hold the slide vacuum hoods down? I dunno. I ran her for ten minutes or so and the smoke continued???
I shut her off and started her again about 10 minutes later and no smoke. WTF???

Two thoughts,
1. Just clearing her lungs
It is amazing just how smoky an engine will run with a few drops of oil in it.
2. Not too rich now you fixed the carbs?
Still, if it's not doing it any more, I wouldn't be too worried.
Cheers, SB

Fully agree there Sprock. I love working on them and knowing I actually did the work and it.....actually works....lol. Even the Blackbird needs a few things doing to her since I came back from my trip. Off to the stealer tmrw to order a gasket for the clutch slave cylinder and a new fuel overflow cup.

residue she was burning off - made her do that H
when I got mine it had two smoking issues
since usually you always prime each cylinder through the spark plug hole
and hand crank a few turns, on a bike that was not started in 6 years,
I was hacking up for a few mins from the smoke cloud - supposed I
should have had the garage doors open too - duh
Then the squirrels nest with nut shells and all kinds of nesting crap
started smoking & nearly caught fire at the back of the starter !
well he she is after a bit of tlc and spares at 86000+ miles and still purring
tlc included
new pads
new seat foam & cover (gel pad inside)
new chain & sprocket
new plugs
oil & filter change
new rear tyre
polish
replace blown speedo bulb
fairing off to clean away any 'gunk' from our fabulous summer
good for a few more years

Well done Bugkiller, that is a very tidy looking bike - and nice job on the seat cover!
Well, Mrs SB and I spent a delightful evening together in the shed loading up the newly finished mezzanine. We uncovered a long buried Solo moped, so mixed up some two stroke and fanged it up and down the road for a few minutes
When I grow up........................nahhhhhhhhhhh

took her out for a quick round trip to the shops/gym ( 100km or so ) to scrub in the new Shinkos a bit more . I know I'm not a hard rider anymore , but these tyres feel as good as any others I've ever used . Then a quick clean up for the old girl before everyone arrives for the BBQ . none bikers still not beliving she's 22 years old .
For those who have followed the 1987 US Import CBR1000F adventure (and I just spoke to the bike's Godfather Naga
), will know that the bike was intended for my partner's eldest son. For some reason THAT didn't happen..................................
I have just remedied his lack of a bike with this one............

Managed to educate the man as to the benefits of CBR1000F ownership
The previous owner is as fastidious as Naga, so I know it is an honest bike.
Now, I will stop looking at bikes online for a few days
