Hey:
Well, they are all great Carl. I have all 3 in a mix of states of tune and gens. I Think the best combo is 87-88 cams in the 93+ motor/carbs if staying all stock Honda parts. The 89+ has the most hot rod parts still around, but I really like the 93 plus carbs as they are really good to tune to higher power levels, even though they are slightly smaller than the 89-91 carbs.
In the frames the 87-88 wins hands down as it is the lightest and handles the best after a wheel and suspension upgrade. I changed to newer 89+ swingarms on them and my 91 has a CBR1100XX swingarm being modded to fit as we speak. I personally like the 3rd gen body work by far the best for looks, as it still looks good and modern even by todays standards. I feel the 87-88 is the best platform to start with as it gives the most opportunity to mod and customize to what you want as they can be found at good prices. If I was planning on a very few mods the 89-91 is the one to get as it is the best compromise, and its looks are really transformed with a 93+ tail added. The 93+ look great, runs great, and handles pretty good but it is the heaviest and I prefer the delinked bikes better. The only weak link with them and the 2nd gen is the plastic 3 way coolant connector and I think that is now going to be a non issue for me.

The rain gears here but whats the fun in riding good country roads in the pissing rain with arm bands and floatation bags on the bike. Thunderstorms forecast for tomorrow
Riding in the rain isn't a problem but the fun factor is severely reduced

just the one for now ....proper link pipes in SS coming from UK
in a week or two.( a trade ) for the second cans to go back on
New laws up here for 2012 ..... means I had to get removable baffles too !
to get by the newly legislated bike inspection sticker law which includes
noise legislation and testing
Just doing our bit to enlarge state bureaucracy and revenue to be further
squandered by the unduly elected Pol's
