Stutter on acceleration
#32
Ok, so today i had some time to look over the bike. I did find a small vaccum leak. That seemed to help her along on the test ride. Then she startted sputtering again and i noticed the lights started flickering. I am leaning towards a new batt and new r/r should help. Maybe my r/r only effs up under load, who knows. More to report later.

mine dropped an exhaust valve the other day...had to swap motor out. anyway, there was oil coming out the exhaust a couple hours before it dropped the valves. valves out of spec maybe? or parts in valve train area about to go bad? just throwing stuff out there. may be that or maybe not.
also with my "new" used motor in, i was getting off the line shudder. its called clutch shudder in my case. its when you have dry, stuck together or warped clutch plates. in my case the previous owner installed a new clutch pack without soaking the plates in oil first, they were bone dry. so i soaked em and reinstalled then my shudder went away. before i did that it was as you described though. hope that helps its just my own experiance with what you have described.

I'd be planning a top end refurb. Smoking exhausts and oil in the pipes means only one thing.
Don't be despondent. Nothing lasts forever.
If you do it you won't regret it.
Worst comes to worst, it's a rebore, new pistons and rings, head skim, valve lap, maybe guides, valve seals, rebuild, enjoy the 100,000 miles.
You got full forum support too, of course.

hey I'd hold off riding it until you replace the r/r + batt you don't want to be
dealing with stator issues

Well regarding the oil issue, the bike stopped smoking. Again i did an oil change prior to the start of this thread and i didnt mention it before, but she started leaking at like every seal and gasket, it was crazy. I used shell rotella 10w-40. I guess she didnt like it. I normally use sae30 and have no probs(they were out so i used 10w-40). So i switched back to sae30 and the leaking stopped. I will replace the rr and if the problem persists then ill start considering a rebuild. Thanks for all the help!

She lives again!!!!
Ok so i ordered a new r/r, a new batt(gel), new bar end weights and new grips. And just got them in today. I installed everything was real excitwd cause it didnt take long and only made my aelf bleed once. Took her for a spin...
And she died on me, i was frustrated to say the least. I got her home and decided to do some sluthing on the wires for the neutral/side stand connection. I noticed they werent making a positive connection. I rewired with blade connectors, and looked at the pulser coil connection and replaced with blades as well. Taped it all up nice an pretty and off i went. She is running great again. Thanks everyone! If anyone has a prob similar to this check your connectors!!!
