Making noise under 4000rpm
Cbr 1000 SC21 1987
When driving a few miles I hear a ratteling scary noise in all gears except when I turn into neutral. When I rev up 4000rpm+ the noise dissapears.
I have changed the cam tensioner and complete clutch, no differance.
When the oil is cold the noise is away.
I think it has something to do with the gearbox, Can I trow my engine away? Because this is my second engine and I dont want to split it.
share your expertise please,

Where is the noise from? Is it from the top, the bottom or somewhere in between? If you can't pinpoint the spot try & use a large screwdriver as a stethoscope.
If it's the bottom then alternator chain & tensioner or gearbox which means split the cases. In the middle then possibly starter damper. Easier to split the cases. Splitting the cases although a big job is not overly difficult & not to be frightened of. Just takes a bit of care more than anything.
Just had a thought. Have you checked the balance shaft adjustment. They can rattle if way too loose as can valve adjustment especially if an adjuster has come loose.

Maybe this isn't what you are talking about, I am kinda new, but I know that my cam chain makes noise up to about 4000rpms then stops. It isn't major noise but a definite rattling. From what my mechanic tells me, it is just how the bike was made and not to worry about it. Anyway hope this helps.

Think we need a sound vid to be sure mate ....noises are bloody hard to fathom unless we can hear them ...lol
Did you get the cam chain swapped out when you did the tensioner ?
I would be checking the balancer adjustment FOR SURE !
and yer ...these old girls will rattle for quite some time without a problem usually ... mine rattles like chit down real low and at idle... and I have been going to do the cam chain and tensioner for over a year now !!
yer om bloody slack, but its only because she still runs like a train and smooth as ...
