Ha ha.. bastad...
Kaska,
Yep liability only. Bike is too old to carry full coverage. I was quoted like $425/yr for full on the CBR with a $500 deductible. That's $925 right there in the first year. Bike is worth what?, $1500 maybe?
I've thought about it many times, and I'm gonna get another quote soon since my record is now clean and I have a second bike with full coverage already on the policy. We'll see.
Also, if I didn't have great medical insurance at work, I would already have full coverage.

My friend insisted on having full coverage on his 1996 ST1100 (Pan European) at $450 per year. He owned it for 7 years. When he crashed it in 2007, I figure that he had $3,150 plus $500 deductible invested in the bike or $3,650 total. His insurance company gave him $3,200 for the bike loss. The difference is $450 to the insurance company. There is a cut off point for what you get in return for an older bike that is not on the books, no matter how much you love it.
I had talked with a guy who had a custom HD that he had $35,000 US invested in. When it was stolen his insurance company took the standard operating procedure and split the wholesale and retail (New list price {$14,999} and used price of a similar bike model {$10,000}) and gave him $12,500. He told me that his lawyer was going to fight it and he had a case meeting in 6 months. He told me that the lawyer was sure that he could get another $2,000. At that point I asked him if his lawyer was free and of coarse he said no. I then asked him if he was still making payments on a bike loan and he told me that he was paying $800 per month.
Lets do the math, $800 x 6 = $4,800 + lawyer fees to get another $2,000.
I told the guy to take the loss and take the money.
This guy looked at me with a blank face and yell out,” I will never customize an other bike as long as I live”.
The insurance company always wins.
