Thanks for the compression tips.

On another note, I changed out the ICM and went for a ~40mile ride . It was 85° out and I didn't have the dead cilynders.

I believe my ICM was bad.. if anything changes I will let you guys know.. thanks for all the input and help! Greatly appreciated!

Update-the problem still is occurring. I went out again today and ~20 minutes into the ride the same issue occured. I brought a bag of tools and parts with me. When it happened I pulled over and started to test parts (my thermometer was reading hot on only cylinder 1 &4). I changed the ICM with the spare I have and that didn't work. Then I changed the R/R with a spare I had, that didn't work(trying to rule out as many things as possible). I swapped the new coil positions (moved 1/4 to 2/3) and 2/3 still didn't run.

I have another IPG that I will swap out. I tested the ohms and it was way out of spec while hot, read 640 ohms. I will swap and see if that is the issue.

Sorry for the delay, I've been very busy. It seems the ignition pulse generator has solved the issue! (At least so far -ive been on a few rides since i changed the IPG). Thank you all for the help!

IMHO, sudden ignition failures on the road are rarely caused by the ignition coils, which will normally deteriorate slowly over time. The pulse generator can, and sometimes does, fail on the road, when the engine is hot, and then mysteriously returns to active duty the following day, when you startup!

Glad you got it sorted.

Cheers,

Dennis
