No power to coils - no park on cl 2&3

No power to coils - no park on cl 2&3
Hello,
I was riding along at approximately 40mph when all of a sudden I felt the bike exhaust note changed and the bike lost a lot of power. I determined there is no spark on cl 2&3 which is controlled by the coil pack on the left side.
The coil resistance was out of spec so I went ahead and ordered a new coil pack and I also replaced all 4 spark plugs at the same time but unfortunately the problem remains.
On closer inspection (maybe smething I should have checked initially), something sinister is happening to the input circuit to the coils 9before the power reaches the coils). I think I should be getting 12 volts to the coils? On the right hand side (which controls cl 1&4), I get 0 (voltage) reading when the bike ignition is on but the left side with the problem (cl 2&3) there is 12 volts reading when the ignition is on.
I now have brand new coils and both primary and secondary resistance is per spec for both coil packs & brand new spark plugs. I get spark on cl1&4 and the bike starts and runs, but only on 2 cylinders (1&4).
Any help/guidance regarding what to do/check next will be really appreciated?
