weak spark?
My 89 cbr600f has been giving me trouble with stalling and not starting back up unless I push start or wait a few minutes. Last night I put new connections where the cdi box meets the coils. I went for a ride a few minutes ago, and the bike did not stall like usual (and pulled way harder). I could have gotten lucky, but hopefully that solved the problem. The wiring harness is hacked up
I (think) I'm still having an issue with weak spark. None of the coils are getting the full ~12.5 volts with the ignition on, and when idling number one coil only gets 10 volts or so. When I rev the engine the volts go down. The other coils are getting 11 while running btw.
From what I understand, and please correct me if I am wrong, when the ignition is on all the coils should get the batteries voltage. If this is the case, what could cause the coils to get less power than they should be getting?
Here is a table of measurements I took to makes things easier:
12.76 volts battery with ignition on
11.58 volts coil one ignition on
11.55 volts coil four ignition on
9.25 volts coil one at ~3k
11.8 volts coil four at ~3k
~14 volts battery running at idle
Any ideas would be more than appreciated.
