Default Help with Cali model

First post so Hey Guys and Gals. I am in the process of rebuilding the engine on my 88 Cane{StupidAlt. chain tensioner broke} so I decided to give her the once overand discovered the dreaded Cali sticker on the airbox. While I am into it I want to remove that SH**. I machined some Block-off plates for the ports in the heads so here is the questions... What hoses are to be removed and or rerouted and will this require re-jetting? Also should there be a big white Restriction plate in the airbox and should it be removed as well? The bike waqs stock but maybe later I will add a pipe. Any help for those who have gone down this road are appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the Forum !
Any restriction on airflow will have a negative effect on power output. I don't have an 88 (mine's a 90Cali)so maybe Dragon64, Collector, or some of the guys with earlier models can assist.
There may also be restrictors in the rubber inlet boots between the carbs and the head, which will need to be ground off. Generally rejetting isn't required - these bikes are over-jetted from the factory.

Yhea I checked the inlet tubes they don't appear to be restricted but there is a definate restrictor plate in the airbox. I'm just not sure of what hoses to plug and what needs to be rerouted. Anyone????

Can anyone post some good pics of the setup on a set of Non-Cali carbs on an early model Hurricane. This may help me figure out what lines to plug.

My bike has the white restrictor plate in the airbox too ('93 model), but I don't see any other obvious emissions crap. I thought my bikewas a CA model because that's where I got it, but I guess that really doesn't mean anything. I'm the third owner so don't have all the history on the bike. I don't have any CA emissions label on my airbox, or any of that PAIR crap on top of my motor (not sure which year CA bikes had PAIR installed), no plugs in the head near the exhaust pipes, etc. Maybe the white restrictor plate is not exclusive to CA bikes then?
