It looks like you have the Avon Roadrider tire. I have them on my old GS1000. They are the best bias-ply tires I have ever had. It can be mounted on the front or back wheel, but it has arrows on the side for correct mounting. It looks like it is mounted correctly for the front.

A set of calipers can be used to see if the wheel is mounted correctly. Even the cheapest plastic caliper Cheap-*** Tools: Plastic Vernier Calipers | Toolmonger can be used.

With the bike on the centerstand, measure the distance between the forks below the bottom triple clamp. Then measure them across at the fender. They should be exactly the same. If not, a shim has to be added to the axle or one of the spacers has to be filed down. Write down any difference. Now measure between the fork slider and the brake rotor on both sides. They should be exactly the same. Write down any difference. If the measurements were all exactly the same, the tire and wheel are centered and the fender is bent. By the way, the fender is the brace between the forks. With a dial gauge, the wheel and/or the rotors can be seen if they are bent or warped.

 

Stupid question, but if the spacers are "handed" and set reversely, wouldn't one or other of the brakes drag like a b1tch?

If yes to above, go for a quick fang up and down your street, then have a feel of your brake discs to make sure they're equal temperature.

 

On the 87/88 models the left hand spacer is the speedo drive unit. You should see the speedometer cable coming out the back of it. If your speedo works its on correctly.

 

Of course, colour me stupid.

 

So things went well , i loosend the triple tree from the bottom enough to move things my self and tightend the snot out of them . Not to tight to strip but more than enought so no twisting happens again feels like a different bike and can deff feel more of the bike now.
