98 sulfur smell. Battery on fire!
So.. Bought a Cbr 600 in November. Didn’t really ride it much over winter, but did install an aftermarket tail light, cut the stock plate lights and turn signals off, and now it’s over heating every battery I put in it. Any help would be fantastic.
A CBR600 of some sort was sold from 1987 until 2013. Could you narrow it down a bit? Having a wiring diagram for the bike would help as well. Did you run wires to the new light straight from the battery or connect it to the existing wiring that you cut. Something that can cook the battery would need to draw significant current. 2 items that come to mind are the stator and the regulator/rectifier. The latter is where I'd be looking since it controls the voltage going to the battery. Check to see what voltage is across the battery terminals while the bike is off and while it's running.
so I installed a new stator today, rode it around for about 40 minutes and as soon as the sulfur smell started I got straight home. So I’m assuming it’s the rectifier. Know any good overnight or 2 day shipping sites?
