so i am trying to get a track bike built for the season of 09 (thats my goal so i can afford it lol) my question to yall is this: if i build a bike (f2) from the ground up, using mainly used parts and fixing what i can, how much am i lookin to spend? oh and any advice yall can give or knowledge from those of yall that race and repair would be greatly appreciated......

 

sell it and buy a first gen SV, or whatever bike you like already prepped

prepping a bike gets freakishly expensive. When I started my F4i, I figued I'd spend about $1,000 total. Wound up closer to 3 or 4k before I finished and I'd be lucky to get 3k for it if I sold the whole bike.

The F4i was worth about $4,500 when I started turning it to a track bike. I spent about $4,000. F4i race bikes were selling for around $3,500 with less miles than mine had on it with the same mods

I now realize that I was an idiot...

 

so youre basically saying that it will end up being a waste of time and money?

 

ima have to agree with woody, ur gonna spend a good amount and dont expect to get anythign out of it. if ur good with bodywork do alot of it urself that way when u drop it at the track u can make new ones. gonna have to upgrade brakes and such. dont get me wrong if u love to racing then go for it. im in process of getting a 2nd bike strictly for track racing and dont car what i put into it cuz its a hobby and when its a hobby u really dont care what u spend

 

and what woody is saying is that u can find a track bike already done for the price he spent building his bike
