Default RE: Signed up for my first track day

Thanks for all the great tips! I signed up with Sportbike Track Time and it looks like they have the track days pretty well structured. I'min the novice course, andthey have classroom time inbetween the track sessions for the novices. They also provide instructors for the noviceriders. So, it seems like these guys know how to organize the day and it's going to be a really good quality experiance. Any one have experiance with Sportbike TrackTime? As for the gear, I ended up buying an Alpinestars Vector 1 piece suit on closeout, so I got a pretty good deal. It's a snug fit for sure, but it'll break in, eh? Any advice or tips on how to break in a suit?

Great way to start! SBTT is good, my friends always have good things to say about them. Which track are you going to again?
Good suit also! Snug is good..it will break in...walk around the house in it..haha. It will feel weird at first, but you will get used to it. A little sweat after your first track day will help break it in...haha

Good Luck! Don't forget to get pics if possible and send them.

That's good to hear about SBTT.... I'm signed up for the one at Grattan Raceway... it's about 25 miles or so northeast of Grand Rapids, MI.

Well, I couldn't wait until July for my first track day........... so, I signed up for the one at Grattan on May 3rd and 4th. And all I can say is that it was a freakin' blast!!! Street riding is just not the same anymore. Now, I'm really looking forward to getting back on the track in July Once I figure out how to post pictures, I'll get a couple posted.

the pictures tell all

compare that first-day shot to one from the end of the season.

Do you remember the instructor in the picture's name? That looks a bit like Craig's R6 (before the new paint), and I know he instructs for STT

The instructor's name is Al (I can't remember his last name) but he is from Wisconsin.... he lives pretty close to Road America.

So, I take you have ridden with STT before, eh?

STT was the first track-day org I joined, so I asked all my dumb questions on their forum. I've talked to their instructors for months, and finally did my first track day (with them) this past weekend.

I should have looked where you were from before asking about a specific instructor.

I specifically asked because an instructor on a green R6 (who will remain nameless, lol) wrecked on Sunday. He's doing fine last I heard.
