[QUOTE=justasquid;1067319]Did you catch Haydens near off? [QUOTE]

hahahaha i stood up and was yelling "OOOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!!!" my father in law and wife were looking at me like , "what the hell are you yelling about?", and when i saw him re-join the track i had a sigh of relief and sat back down. hahaha it was pretty funny.

there were some big offs in that race - it was not cool to not see ben's off because i would like to have known what happened, but we'll see. lorenzo's looked pretty bad. and i think they made too big a deal of simoncelli's off. - he was just pushing really hard to stay with dovi (a great wet rider) and he tucked the front - but the commentators seemed to ream him for it calling it too risky and immature to run that pace - yada yada

i hope the commentators don't start flogging him every chance they get because of the pedrosa situation.

and colin's effort proves EXACTLY why i can't stand pedrosa. thats tough-as-nails riding. he's a guy that is thankful to be doing what he is doing - riding a bike for a living. he gets on with it even when he's got a little pain. he's devoted. he's not some fair-weather rider like pedrosa is. congrats to tech3 - to have a guy get a shattered colar bone one weekend, then the next they lose their other rider, and get out of those two weeks with a podium, well deserved.

i love the answer colin gave as to why he qualified so well. "cuz i'm badass". hahaha that's the kind of racers i like to see.

and stoner - well, thats pretty obvious. good job.

Here is a post interview with Ben Spies:

Spies said he was relieved not to suffer any serious injuries in his Silverstone crash, having been given a clean bill of health following medical checks.

The American fell at Abbey while running sixth in the extremely wet British Grand Prix today.

He was taken to the medical centre for checks having reported back and neck pain, but scans showed no damage.

"The track was really wet, when I hit the brakes going into turn one the front just dropped away and I hit the wall before I knew it," Spies said.

"I hit my back pretty badly, my back protector is really busted up, but it did its job."

He admitted he was in discomfort at present, but has no concerns about his fitness for the next grand prix in the Netherlands in a fortnight.

"I'm really sore and will probably need a big cushion for a few days but I'm happy it wasn't worse," said Spies.

"We'll take a few days to relax and recover then come back fighting at Assen."

Glad he's OK! Hope Pedrosa comes back in Assen.

Glad to hear it was nothing serious. He looked like he was starting to improve his riding this year too.

Anyone catch AMA this weekend? Gregg white never bothered me as a starting grid commentator, but boy did he bug me as a race commentator. He just jept rambling on and on. Then anytime he mentioned someone, it wasn't just their name, it was, there is the number 69 geiko makita sponsored Suzuki riidden by Danny Eslick. Man it got annoying.

ya, i always thought the AMA did a lot of that though (i think it stems from the marketing in nascar), but ya, it does get annoying.

however, the shots of the 4 bikes doing wheelies was amazing. daytona sportbike is SO much fun to watch.

edit: just watched the barber - you're right, greg white did do that CONSTANTLY.... i almost muted the tv... i don't mind if they want to explain who is who (you know "the #69 of danny eslick") or explain what exactly a low-side is, but its almost like they talk to the tv like its everyone's first time watching motorcycle racing.

Yes, I agree with the over the top talk about sponsors. But I wonder why don't they get big name sponsors like NASCAR & paint the logos on the bikes & get more money in AMA. I use to really enjoy AMA as much as WSBK & MotoGP. Now its a barely ahead of Isle of Man TT, & thats because its a once a year event. I hope J. Hayes moves to WSBK after this year.

you know, i was really suprised to hear just how much josh hayes worked with eugene laverty on set-up at miller. the bikes are pretty close. you know the ama boys can race (ehhhem.. ben spies), and with all the "older" guys racing nowadays (foret, checa, biaggi, etc.), maybe the world boys will give him a shot. josh has said before that he'd be up for racing overseas. that would be really awesome.

even the riders here talk sponsers up more than riders overseas do. the motogp guys, wsbk, wss guys talk about THE RACE in the post race interviews. here, riders almost sound like nascar guys.

and has anyone else noticed how often greg white or whoever is commentating - when talking about suzuki, the put REAL empahsis on G-S-X-R? think that comes from the connotation of "gixxer"?

The thing that surprised me was Josh raced a WSS race in Portugal & almost got on the podium. But then it seemed to never materialize. I think he wanted to get an AMA SBK ride. Which he has won a Championship, if he wants to go WSBK or MotoGP he better get moving, he isn't a spring chicken...

Yeah, the AMA commentating could use some help. For me just the whole production is boring. They need to HYPE it up, show the umbrela girls, go behind the scenes with different crews, talk to the owners, get out with the fans, do some kind of promotion to make it more interesting. Example when Superbikes was on, There are only so many ways can you do a wheelie or stoppie??? But how it was presented, him mixing up with the fans & out about town made each show interesting. Com'n Man!!!

At the very least, have some proper interviews after the race. I can't stand it how it just ends. I want to hear what happened during the race. So many times you watch someones bike start slowing and all you hear is speculation about what may be wrong. How about the rider gets asked what happened? They waste so much time during the pre-race, they could really change things up for the better.

But Gregg white was rediculous. He did it so much sponsoring, even Scott Russell was starting to do it. I didn't like Scott Russell at first, but he has certainly grown on me. Its good to hear a former racers opinion on things. Many times a rider is doing something and you'll hear the other commentator say whoa... what a mistake that was... Only to hear Scott say it wasn't a mistake and then say what was really going on. They just need to dump Gregg white from it. He loves to hear himself talk way too much. His comments remind of Dr. Phil. Just mindless rambling just to hear himself talk.

The motogp and sbk commentators are bit over the top sometimes with their pre-excitement on every corner, but its much better than what the AMA is currently doing. Its just funny to hear them.... whoa.. and he's going for it now, look out!!!!.... only to see the next camera view and see the rider is a full 3 bike lengths behind.

ya, i was watchin daytona sportbike with my family, and we were all guessing as to what went wrong with herrin's bike in race one at barber.

all the comentators said about it was "something let go". oh really? it did? i had no idea! hahaha

it wasn't until the podium interview the next day after race2 that herrin said he got a rock in the radiator.

i complained a lot when speed started doing the "gavin emmet pre-race show" in motogp, but now, i find it really cool. i miss the podium interviews, but they do some pretty cool things with that show (i.e. the mobile medical center or the american rider interviews). it'd be cool if speed could show some interviews. greg and scott always refer to interviews that they had during the weekend, so instead of showing the warm-up laps and other useless stuff, why don't they put together a pre-race show like the motogp one?

and yes, the world guys (not so much steve martin, but the other guy -i can't remember his name) do over-sell a lot of the racing. but what i like is, that when they tell you the difference between the two BMW's teams for example, they focus on the difference of the hardware on the bike, and not the difference in sponsership.

and for real, that aragon race track is AWESOME. i didn't realize until the world guys said it, but the WSS and WSBK guys run a different track than the motogp bikes do. the straight is longer for the WSS and WSBK guys, and i wish that the motogp bikes would run that really long straight. imagine the speeds you'd see!

A big ol woot yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!! for Spies. Looks like he may finally have gotten that monkey off his back. He was very impressive. The crash between Lorenzo and Simoceli surely helped, but his pace was so fast compared to everyone else, it wouldn't have mattered. It was his today no matter what.

Is it me? or are all of the riders who are getting injured coming back riding awesome? It sure seems that way anyway. Oh, except for Pedrosa.
