Just take it easy and you should be ok. My first somewhat decent drive (about 15 miles) I got caught in the rain. It's easier than you would think.

i found it that riding in the rain is almost the same as riding dry ( as long as the tires are good ) well, even with a baldy i found it to grip very well.

If I have to ride in the rain I try to avoid riding in the middle of the lane, especially near stop lights. That's where the oil and antifreeze leaks from cars and doesn't get wiped away by their tires. Even if it has been raining for a while that area can still be slippery.

It's all about smooth. Stay alert, no surprises, anticipation is the ke.
Don't freeze up, relax, there is nothing unnatural or unsafe about rain riding.

Stay off the center of the lane, that's where the oil and fluids from cars tends to accumulate.

If you keep your leathers oiled, properly conditioned and waxed,
You'll even stay dry and warm. Just be sure to re-apply Lexal or whatever your preferred conditooner is after they dry out.

Didn't see one important tip:

When braking, test the traction by using your rear brake first.

Hardest part for me is keeping my faceshield clear enough to see. I end up riding with my head pointed towards the side looking out the corner of the lens because I can hardly see. Either that or I shake my head back and forth constantly to clear the droplets.
