Always wore gear, but I've been road rashed well before I hopped on a motorcycle and just 2 and 2 together. That and, of course, familial influence.

I've been down WITH gear. Couldn't imagine going down without gear. Like the other fellow said. I now have a fiance and a baby boy on the way (shes now 34 weeks!!!) and I have alot more to lose now than what I did the same time last year. And I'm pretty sure in my 70mph lowside, the gear saved my life. I got ripped up pretty good even with it. So not only does it look cool as hell and match my bike it could save my a$$.

I have been down twice and one time has without gear. Got off the road into a ditch and flipped through the wind screen. Second time, low side in full gear and my helmet saved my life.

Moral of the story, GEAR SAVES LIVES. When I am in the Ranger w/ my gf and see people without gear and I start calling them all kinds of names. She tells me to calm down and she agrees they are idiots.

Glove's helmet, jeans and some form of over the ankle foot wear for me(right now its just work boots but still better then tennis shoes) I have a jacket but it is extremely uncomfortable enough where It is unsafe for me to ride with it on because I get distracted from it. Hopefully I can either lose a few pounds and make the jacket fit better or just sell it and get a new one with out the back protector.

Not sure, judging by the abundance of calamari around here, that there is an increase in gear but as usual I stay with the ATGATT approach.

EVEN IN THE SUMMER HEAT OF FLORIDA
