Today I Made The Switch
Just leave the thing on your lap.. I've had 3 laptops and never have they failed from overheating...I'm usually the one to cave from the heat.. When i'm done with it I'll put it on the coffee table, not on the couch or bed...
You can get viruses, I have gotten a total of 3 on my iMac. Just stay away from suspicious downloads and such because they are becoming more popular for our computers. I really like the dashboard screen F12, you can add different widgets. F9 is a quick look at all open windows. F8 is windows, basically you hit that and if you want to work on multiple projects that is a great screen to use.
Ahh, see thats where mac went to the dark side. Switched from Motorola PowerPC 'G' series platform to intel. Nerd know intel, and then h4x it. I have a powerpc mac and I download more **** then satin with it and it never even flinches, but thats just me.
The second biggest thing you will notice is the peripheral communication. The mac, your ipod, itunes, calendar, mail, your (iphone) if you really switch, etc.... all work in perfect harmony as if they were one device. Its great. Did I mention the constant defrag feature, the hard drive is constantly re-writing itself for peak optimization!
The BIGGEST thing you will notice. IT WORKS, every time you turn it on, every time you click something, give it input, it doesn't spit back bill gates opinion while thinking (at its own pace) how its going to load the program you just executed, it just does it, every freaking time, no questions asked, and it will do it when its four years old too! Mark my words if you take the time to learn the platform, understand it, and figure out how to convert everything over (the people who say there are compatibility issues are lazy, you can convert everything!), then you will never, ever, go back, not even in pixy land.

According to this 3/27/2008 article from security.itworld.com, The Macbook Air was hacked within 2 minutes in CanSecWest security conference's PWN 2 OWN hacking contest. Microsoft Windows Vista lasted till the 3rd day, but the security flaw wasn't Microsoft, but Adobe's flashplayer, for which Adobe had a patch prepared, but hadn't yet rolled it out. A laptop running an open source OS called Ubuntu (derived from Linux) wasn't hacked.
I think it's important to clarify, that the reason that Windows gets hacked more than Mac, is not because Windows has more flaws, but the overall user base of Windows is much greater than Mac. Which means more potential targets for hackers and crackers. The security hole that was used to hack Windows was through a 3rd party piece of software. Keep in mind that Microsoft is required now, due to class action lawsuits, to support 3rd Party software and sometimes, even bundle it with windows packages.
As the Mac's user base continues to grow, the more of a target it becomes, at which point the argument that Mac's are more secure will become moot.
The reason I stick with the PC, is because [ol][*]It's the base of my employment.[*]Better gaming options.[*]More competition for components which means lower price.[*]Upgradability.[/ol]EDIT: But I do recommend Mac's for some people.
