Ooo, a Jeff Cooper quote, so at least someone has done their homework. ;-)
Highly recommend, "In the Gravest Extreme" by Ayoob Massad, for anyone who carries or is considering. Handgun Stopping Power is another interesting read.

Home defense for me is a 12g High Standard hwy patrol issue, loaded with standard load #6 or #8 bird shot. It's 1 1/4 oz of lead, but it's light enough won't penetrate more than a couple of layers of sheet rock. So you don't have to worry so much about over-penetration, down-range of target and taking out Fluffy or a neighbor.

I'm a little-guy, too. 5'10" 158#. I've been carrying a .380 acp PPK/S with Hollow-point Silver-tips or Glasers for the past 25 years, in a kidney carry. With over 10k rounds through it at the range, even though it's on the low end of stopping power, I feel comfortable about my ability to hit center mass.

My buddy picked up a single-stack DAO S&W 4060 that would make an excellent up-grade for me. But, no way I could carry a double-stack on the street. I would flash/print in now time, and that is a bad thing!

The Taurus definetly piques my interest as an upgrade also, so i appreciate you drawing my attention to it.
