Supermoto Progress... (cleaned up and "finished")

RE: Supermoto Progress...
i think the black rims would look sick...if you did black all around on that it would look killer....whatever you do...make sure you get a good clear on it...only because with you hittin trails....the better the clear the easier it will be to clean without mucking up the paint...i mean you can always repaint...but why not extend it as long as you can...
dude...honestly...i never even considered a supermoto......UNTIL NOW!

RE: Supermoto Progress...
Lol, I dunno why I was thinking 2-stroke... [&:] Yeah I don't know man - if you get bored do a bit of research on the XR's about exhaust! Maybe you can find something else, all I'm really seeing is that a pipe doesn't see much gain without a carb. I thought it strange too, considering that it seems the first thing anyone does is get a pipe... ? I don't know - it may be the XR's stock carb, maybe an air-cooled singlcylinder thing... ? Hell I don't know...
Ffingers - hey yeah man I think you're right - it would look badass blacked out... very aggressive looking me thinks... My buddy used some kind of paint on his old YZ 125 like 4 years ago. Still looks great too, I might have to ask him what he used. Hell, if I can find some today, I just might pull the engine tonight and paint it... this lil' thing is so cool, lol.
I still haven't gotten a hold of your buddy, mainly because I have a friend who called me a few days ago. He had a trip with hotel and everything booked for the Dragons Tail this year (3 weeks from now). Anyway, out of 6 guys, he had 4 back out. Now it's just him and another guy - he said if I don't end up going he's just going to take his wife with him...
Now I just gotta figure out a way to make it appealing to the GF (apparently having me outof the house isn't enough, lol), and I think I may need to be saving up some money...
If I go I'm taking the F3 and the moto. I wonder which I would ride more? Once in a lifetime trip, for me anyways. It's not often I'd get to travel 1200 miles just to ride motorcycles, lol.

RE: Supermoto Progress...
It's relative, lol. Not the ol' F3 cadillac by any means... When it gets me butt sore though, I either stand up and act like a kid coasting down a hill on my bycycle or I'll sit way up on the tank where it actually is omfortable.
Been looking at seats too, not finding much other than covers.
Hey man I've ridden a buddy's 400EX before he sold it, those things are a blast, and yet again, they're straight up wheelie monsters! The only quad I've ever felt safe on. It hhas nothing to do with it being a Honda either. Just something about it - I've always been petrified of quads busting my front teeth out or riding over my own leg with the back wheels. This one had Nerf bars but I dunno - didn't feel squirrley like most do to me. Quads are fun, just not my thing.
I don't know how you quad guys get those bikes through some of those trails but you do it!

RE: Supermoto Progress...
Don't mind at all, pretty cheap, fun toy, really...
Bike was $2000
Moto kit from Motostrano.com $500.46
Front fender $20 brand new
Rear fender w/plate and tail lightbasically brand new $25
Instrument cluster (not necessary) $125
That's just $2545.00 and while I haven't licensed it yet I know it's going to be around $80 for taxesand plates are only $33, inspection $10, insurance is $110 a year and would only take a single payment (lol).
So we're at $2778.00 for a fun *** bike that can keep up with the sportbikes in the tight twisties and rocks wheelies as long as your hand has blood in it and can romp the meanest trails I've thrown it at so far. Not claiming to be the off-road master but I have certainly put it tosome serious terrain and it performed as well as I could make it, always there for power.
It's also really cool because it SLOWS YOU DOWN. It's not a top-speed bike and it really makes you kind of enjoy the scenery where you're tempted to pin the throttle on you CBR, lol. I've found places in my city I never knew about before because I can now go down the gnarliest road in town and just stand up and rock through it like it's my own personal playground... definitely unique and absolutely fun.
A completely different ride. Also keep in mind, it's the fact that I've been riding this that I made that post about the HD Nightster. I've always thought it looked cool but never could see myself riding it or anything like it. After romping the XR around I've kind of realized that there are so many different types of riding that I'd be hard-pressed to call any of them boring. Even if it was ona Harley Davidson (though it maynotbe my first choice ).
