Stupid what in the H^ll are you doing
Be careful around the THP.. I grew up in TN and know how they act.. they're sometimes complete dicks and others they ignore you for no reason. TN is a state that a lot of people commute through and the THP tends to bother a lot of people to get tickets. Consider yourself lucky for not getting a ticket. I've had a couple of encounters where the officers turned their lights on when I'm passing them but didn't move from the median but certain stretches of highway they will follow you no matter what. You kinda have to know the landscape in those cases. I dunno, just consider yourself lucky that you didn't get a ticket cause they can be bruisers at times. I'm happy to hear that you didn't get hurt though... weather always worries me.
Dah, you live life on the edge as it is, I think you can quit beating yourself up over a successful quiktrip that tested your abilities to the limit. Rides like that just remind you that your still alive [sm=lildevil.gif]
Some people ride straight edge and never push their limits, more power to them! They shouldn't have to worry about wreckning their bike or getting broken bones. But for me, pushing the limit every now and then is just a way for me to air~out and remind me I'm still alive!
Call it being a squid, but I always feel good after a good hellrun. I've busted myself up recentlly on my 400EX trail riding and everyone always asks me "Don't you think it's time to put the toys away?", my responce "Hell no, I'm never gonna turn in to some pansy couch potato!" Being active and wreckless is almost religious to me, don't feel the same without it. So to me what you did HC was nothin outa the ordinary in my mind...well at least for people like you and I that don't realy relate to "ordinary"

It's hard not to get the engine out of the box every now and then, HARDCORP, but for God's sake in the rain and fog!!! You are one lucky SOB. Take it easy for the time being, will ya? You've used up all of your good karma for awhile.

Spirit that is just that Marine mentality of yours coming through. I'm not unbreakable. I've had major surgery several times including knee surgery, brain surgery got titanium plates in both shoulder blades left arm and have been shot, stabbed , blown up, ran over, drag by vehicle thrown out in open sea in gale force whether an almost drown and crashed out a few times and then beat on more times than I can count. Some of them I did walk away from, but most of them require a hospitals stay I would never be as bold as to make that claim

1st off you had given yourself X amount of time to get there, so I suspect the decision to ride was included in the calculation.
I can't say I've been in a Hurricane (but I have been on push bike in a Cyclone, but I'll save that one for later), but I have had a bad case of the ****fulls riding in bad weather & I guess it would go something like this: Wet + Woeful + Dangerous = Going to get the F**k out of here ASAP.
Glad you made in one piece, Now you got something even more impressive when you tell your son why he can't get a motorcycle

To be perfectly honest, the four wheelsI normally would have taken was unavailable to me till the next morning and flying was almost out of the question unless I was willing to spend about six hours flying to three different airports to arrive. 400 miles up the highway or waiting for a straight flight that would have maybe beenone hour late. Now fort Knox itself was covered up with graduation the whole time I was there on the third day I made arrangements to meet with an old friend his first statement to me was. There's no way in hell I would have rode in those conditions up here. I was to the point where I was almost almost willing to agree with him. And yes, I could have rented a car at no cost to me, but it would have taken time to make the arrangements
so pace the whole issue was about the fact that Time waits on no man
You are a much beloved and respected member of this online community. If you were a noob, we would be ripping you into many bite sized pieces and roasting you over open flames...

I do understand what you're saying voodo the thing that upsets me the most is the fact that I put others' lives in jeopardy I can only imagine what those poor truck drivers were thinking that I passed a couple of times. After stopping for fuel making a phone call home to let everyone know I was all right and on the move
