just found this
Riding Skill Series: In the ClutchStop wasting time using the clutch to upshift
Riding Skills Series: Downshifting and "Blipping" the Throttle

ok...clutchless from 2nd to 1st is a bad idea..dont try it. 929 got too much power in 1st and 2nd gears,, rear wheel was spinning and almost threw me off..couldnt match the RPMs without clutch.
i always downshift with clutch..because i dont ride in the city.. i do hills and twisties..i need to clutch it to slow down faster before cornerings.
well i only ride through 3 gears on twisties and i dont have enough time to upshift with clutch....sometimes i clutch in half way thru a tight corners.
i dont remember when was the last time i rode 5th or 6th gear on the freeways.. im gonna ride the freeways to clutchless up/downshift.

I've been doing the clutchless upshifts every so often when I'm riding on the aggressive side. I have noticed though that you need to be a little more firm with your shift when clutchless shifting from 1st to 2nd, or you'll end up in neutral, bouncing the engine off the rev limiter a couple times. All the other gears are fine, but for some reason, shifting from 1st to 2nd requires a bit more of a forcefulclick on the shift lever.

As far as reliablity and if It causes problems or not, maybe we should talk to thirdgenlxi and ask him how he rode his bike to manage the100,000+ miles without any problems.

buy one of these!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...:IT&ih=004

you can find em hella cheap and they will save you a hurtin in the pocket book if your bike is nice enough....

then again if its your first bike heres my advice:
powershift, double clutch, stunt, drive too fast and stop too short.
basically blow up the motor and trans while youre still young and have a crappy bike as opposed to when youre 30 and can afford that new ducatti super GP thats 70g's....also when you do dumb things, you will heal faster when youre younger

I don't usually clutch my upshifts. If I am into the throttle at all, I never clutch an upshift. I think I have the little "twist-off, twist-on" motion down to milliseconds now, lol.
