Default Radar Detectors?

Anyone have any suggestions for a good radar? I have heard good things about the valentine1. Kinda pricy but its cheaper than a ticket. Also does any1 know if i was to mount it under my front Fairing by my headlight if the signals would be affected? Or If i was to conceal it under a fairing or in my trunk space on my bike? I just dont want the hassel of removing it so it doesnt get stolen.

Also how do i go about getting my Speedo Corrected on my 95 cbr f3? Its off by like 1 mile for every 5 i do. So whenmy speedosays I am doing 55 my actual speed is approx 65-70. To my knowledge the only performance aftermarket part is a yosh slip on pipe.

Can't help you on the speedo too much... Probably a tuning shop, the dealer, or switching to a smaller wheel (or tire) would correct the speedo. Check with the owner's manual to ensure you're not running bigger than stock tires, since the difference in diameter would cause the error on the speedo.

On the radar detector... V-1 is the best one out there... but no radar detector will protect you from any and all tickets. most of them are not designed for motorcycle applications, so they are not water resistant. V-1 has the advantage of having an optional remote display (which means you can mount it under the seat, safe from water, and prying hands, and still be able to see the display) but mounting the detector out of sight means you will loose the laser detection. Having it inside the plastics should have no effect on detection of radar though. (plastic/fiberglass are both transparent to radar)
I have a cheap *** cobra, ($125) and an even cheaper whistler ($75) and they have both worked great, and more than payed for thmselves by the tickets they have saved me from.

Hope this helps...

Whistler PRO-58

had this exact same one since i bought my bike back in 2003. NO tickets. Very sensitive, got great reviews of a site where a retired trooper test all types of detectors and gives his own opinion. Think it got 4 to 4 and a half stars out of 5.
