Imus used to be big hear on the radio here in N.Y. back in the 80s and early 90s and I would flip between him and Howard in the morning when Iwas driving to school or work. Let me start off by saying that was pretty funny!!!!! I laughed my *** off from hearing an old,half dead, white man say NAPPY HEADED HOE. I couldn't stop cause who says that still.
I guess alot of America isn't familiar with Spike Lee.Jiggaboos vs. the Wannabees is from School Dazes, if you haven't seen it watch it then you'll understand the meaning behind the comment.That movie was made it in the late 80s when Imus was on the radio here in N.Y. Spike has lived in N.Y. for the past like 25 years ( watch the a Knick game you'll see him). There is a correlation here..........somewhere.
I'm sure as the sun will rise tommorow that Imus was bull****tin and it wasin context to what he was talking about.Me I found it hilarious probably I'm familiar with his sense of humor and what he was talking about.Watch the movie..........
But this "race war" that's starting to brew on the forumbecause people don't like certain "stirring" leaders have to remember that these men come from a different generation and time. They have seen and lived thru things that some of our posters would sooner forget and swear that such attrocities never happened or just say there is no place for things like that. When things like confederate flags andcross burnings disappear thenthings heremight be different.

When I mean they are not politically rocognized, I mean they can't march to the courthouse and be taken seriously, a representative of the klan cannot go on the Oprah Winnfrey show, the klan does not influence our current political state. The 1940's and 1950's...probably different. I remember Duke, his political career was over when people found out his former affiliation. P.S. is that a quote from the Usual Suspects? Also, when I think of a well organized, scary,white powerorganization, I think of the Arians and not the Klan.

What get's me the most, is that Imus' demographic is not even African American. I would be rather surprised if I heard that more than 2 African Americans were actually listening to the show when he made that statement. How can they claim to be offended is they are hearing it through the grapevine?

I couldn't agree more, No one who was acutually offended by this was actually listenig to the show at the time. they all needed to go to U tube and listen to it THEN they all the sudden got offended..... and they aretrying to get him fired.... thats ****ing retarded we in america have freedom of speech and when you take away that right and determine what you can and cannot say is reverting back to **** days. Look if it offfended them who the hell cares get over it. the NAACP is getting involved and Jesse jackson this is just like the Fat colation that went against american idol a few years ago..

WOW so I stumble on this thread and boy im not surprised. As an African American male let me first state I appreciate your honesty and how you feel but it seems some of you haven't a clue. What you guys don't understand is that no matter how much you try to tip the scale in a black man or women's favor the fact still remains we were in slaved and brought to this country against our will and systematically broken down and bread to work in the field. African American just got decent rights in 1970 that's 37 years of so called equality. When you have prominent and influential people calling women of color hoes and nappy headed it just isn't right. period. the funny thing about reverse discrimination is this. as a white male or female you have every opportunity to succeed. you have a leg up on life from the time you are born. no matter what nationality you are you can call your self white put a suit on and blend in. Im black on Monday thru Sunday. I cant hide my skin. its sad to see how many uneducated people there are in the world but hey if everyone was smart who would buy thing from home shopping network. want to here a funny stat. there are more white people on welfare than black. do your research. we help built this country and all we are looking for is a even scale. FYI spike lee is a great film makers. Malcolm X was his best movie ever. (climbing off my soap box) now that felt better.
