Probably a security deposit. Some places don't have them, but most do. Usually you have to fork over something like $200 or $500or something at the time of signing. You get this money back if you don't trash the place.

A lot of places with have some sort of 'application fee' BS of like $50 or something as well. You don't get that money back. Basically they're ripping you off and there's no way around it.

A lot of places also will waive these fees if you work at a company that is sleeping with your apartment complex.

^^ Dude..people dont give you the money back..They will do/say anything to keep it. When my sister moved out of her first **** hole appt. we spent 2 extra days cleaning it and had it looking better thn before she moved in. we turned the keys in 1 day late because of the extra time cleaning it, and they said she owed them the deposit money for the extra day of rent...That night i egged the holy living crap out of there appts..have fun cleaning that douche bags.

Anyways..im looking to move out to. i admit its not easy finding a decent place to live.

Most places want a secruity deposit that varies depending on your credit report. Just find a place in the niciest area you live in for a price you can affort without a roomate, that way if they stiff you won't be to screwed. And since its your 1st place don't try to blow money on crap you don't need ie big *** tv and top of line furniture. Good Luck.

If you got 2 months worth of rent then you can get into an apt as soon as you want.

+1 on the eating habits. boy do that change when you get your first place. im almost 27 and just now starting to eat 'normal' again with home cooked meals.
