I found a disk brake lock with an alarm built into it. It is like a normal disk brake lock, except it also has an alarm built into it in case anyone tries to move the bike or temper with the lock itself. I just ordered it, looks pretty good, hopefully it works well. If anyone is interested I can post a link.

I just ordered mine and should be getting it by the end of the week, so I will let you guys know how well it works. This seller has the locks for buy it now for $35.00, or he has auctions that start at $24.99, usually not too many people bid on them so you can save yourself 10 bucks if you are willing to wait.

 

Just got the lock in today, works pretty well, the steel is really hard and the lock mechanism is of good quality including the key. It also comes with an extra key and extra batteries. I put the lock on my bike and tried shacking it and moving it to see how sensitive it is, and even if you try sitting on the bike the alarm will go off. The alarm is really really loud too and is a very annoying high pitched sound, sure to get others attention.

 

This is how you keep it from being stolen!!!

I heard about a guy (can't remember if it was this forum or not) who locked his bike IN his garage and went on vacation- he came back to find his house robbed and they used his own tools to cut the cable locking his bike and they stole it too. This just confirms what other people are saying- it they want to steal it, they will. Insurance is your best bet.

My friend had his bike stolen in a bank parking lot at lunch! This should say a lot about how stupid/lucky some criminals are.

 

The whole fart strip idea is good unless you wear outthe fart strip. Since full coverage is out of my price range, I use three locks.Onedisc lock up front, a bicycle lock through the sprocket, one HEAVY duty chain (I know... can be cut), and the bar lock. Just want to let a potential theif that I'm not F'n around. If they get past that... I guess they have themselves a new bike []
