RE: Free Credit Report
yea, wife went to freecreditreport.com...you know the ones on tv all the time...you get it free for a month...but you gots to give your CCnumber...scheme is that after you get your report and try to cancel, they jack up on your paperwork and it takes like six months to cancel!
my bank reversed the charges...and send them a dispute letter, that if they wanted their money, they needed to dispute...they never did dispute with my bank.
wife called them numerous times, each time got the run around and no one would even give her their name! finally the manager comes on and says her workers told her that she was being rude, etc...
there are true free ones, as you're allowed 1 free one every year. you get these from the 3 big credit companies...no one else or else you'd screwed.

RE: Free Credit Report
i used them before and i didnt have any issues cancelling. i actually used to pay for it like a year and keep an eye on it, the trick is they dont give you full access for the promised $10/mo. the only way to get full access is to pay $30-40 per report. so it definitely is deceiving. but i did manage to get my account cancelled when i wanted it to, maybe only cause i actually paid for a full year....dunno.

RE: Free Credit Report
The site I gave for that free promotion was legit. They don't hassle you afterwards or anything. You don't have to provide any of your credit card numbers. It was basically a program for like $15, and a promotional code to make it free for the first 5,000 people that signed up for it. It allowed you to view your credit score. I tried to give it to you guys, but it ended so soon.
