Apply and see what happens. If you have 5k to put down you should be in a good position to buy new.

If you have $5000 to put down, but yourself a great used bike. $5000 will get you alot of bike and something fairly new.

$5k ? credit mistakes ?

what separates humans from simians is the ability to learn from their mistakes

no doubt that you'll get a brand-new liter or 600 with 5k as D/P but whose to say it won't be repossessed if and when you can't make the payments ? Do you have another $4-6k in savings to tide you over and pay off the loan balance ?

do some legwork - spend some time going through motorcycle classifieds - with a little luck and some perseverance you'll be able to buy a slightly-used 929 or 954 for cash.
