but if your just looking to upgrade kidcr3nshaw, i would just throw a couple hundred at it - the CPU and GPU seem to be bottlenecking your gaming experience.

LastJanuary ('06)when I built my Intel-based gaming PC (by far the best platform I've ever built and will go Intel again when I build another), it was top of the line. 3.0GHz P4 HT, 2G DDR2, BFG 7800GT, X-Fi, SATA 80G Raptors in RAID 0 using GameDrive for a virtual drive. There was nothing on that system... XP SP2, Game Drive, BF2,and Special Forces. It was strictly a gaming PC. That PC rocked the house and the only difference between this current PC is that when I first join a map there is about 30 seconds of, "laggyness." Which I presume is due to the slower GPU and DDR memory. After that 30 seconds though, I've got the milkiest gameplay... just like my old system.
What I am impressed with though, is the speed of the Athlon 64. Very fast CPU and is my first experience with AMD. Not at all impressed with the setup procedures of the EVGA mobo, though. What a PITA. I'm not an overclocker so the advantageous features it's packed with become a nuiscance to me. After 2 days of poking and prodding, I finally got it going.
The biggest PITA was the video and sound using the same IRQ's - which is common, but this mobo threw a fit when I didn't immediately disable onboard sound. Created a whole slew of issues that I finally caught. After that though, the mobo has performed quite well.
Here is a pic of my old set up...

And my new one...

Now obviously this system isn't as strong as my last, butI've got no complaints. And uh, thanks Vermino, but I'm very well aware of what I should do if I wanted to upgrade. The first thing I would do is buy mobo that supports DDR2
sorry chr3nshaw - wasnt trying to step on your toes or anything.. you just never mentioned anything about WC or OCing your system... yeah if your speaking of multiplayer, i dont think anyone can get into a multiplayer game and not have a load up time (except bill gates)
but what i just learned in the last couple of days, EVGA products are the only ones you can do a set-up program with.. which means "hey, i need to upgrade my GTS and get a GTX" they give you the discount for the GTS onto the new GTX (as long as you have the original box and everything - and you signed up and registered your product).. but it's a pretty sweet deal in my eyes.
but those are very nice system setups chr3nshaw

Yeah so far I'm completely oversatisfied with EVGA. I got my mobo given to me last December and it had a bad PS2 port so I called in an RMA.
After some problems here and there and moving I never got around to sending it in. I finally got some free time 2 weeks ago and they still said, "hey no problem, I'll go ahead and reactivate the RMA."Sent me the label in an email, printed it off, mailed it and 8 days later I got a brand new mobo in the mail. SWEET! That's pretty damn good customer service.
I was reading on their site about the step-up program and while it is an awesome service that they don't have to offer, there is a catch. Don't remember what it was, but it was kinda one of those fine print things. Not everyone with a registered EVGA product is covered by the program. If you've got all newer-generation products though, you're golden.
Two thumbs up to EVGA!

yea i know there is always fine print.. EVGA is the best tho. They are kind-of like the old Gateway, we used to have one and every 2 years we turn in our PC and they replace it with the newest one out there for a discount rate (each time the discount was greater for keeping with gateway)..
so once i start to see some crazy new GPU and MOBO cards come out - i'll do the step-up program.. (i just did a glance by on the step-up program page)

EVGA is one of the many companies that make Motherboards (Mobo or MB) and GPU (graphic processing unit/card). they are one of the best that we are talking about..

Just played the Bioshock demo. Just gorgous. The scenery is beatiful. I was worried my system would hiccup cause I read Gamespots article on what hardware needs to be to run this game. It slowed down a little but nothing to worry about.
I got a laugh out of the demo cause the "enemies" are I guess mutated (you'll get the info in the game) and they act normal. Well, they have their phsyco moments but there's one part were a guy is beating on the door. Hahaha. What he was saying cracked me up.
Just play the demo and you'll see what I'm talking aboot.
