Don't Rope Deer from a Motorcycle
I grew up on our family farm in Penna. . We had river bottom ground with 500 acre fields and lots of deer in these fields at night. I decided to rope a deer and had my friend (Roy) comehat night over that night to drive. My bike was a 1947 HD Kunkle Head and it was heavy sled.
Well after a couple tries, I lasso'd a doe, glad it was not a buck. I thought it would be like when I roped our young cattle but was not. This deer went Wild and jumped around like a kangeroo. We caught caught up in the rope as she circled us (rope burn) and then she started jumping and those hooves were like ten pound hammers and rapid fire. In about 4 or 5 minutes we wanted free from that doe and cut her free.
Well the moral of this story, if you rope a deer, do it from a Mack truck and from inside the cab.
True story, I was 16 at the time and not too swift.. and just a little swifter today.
Next story is about an Air Power (Prop. Drive) Motorcycle. This was fairly dangerous machine & more on that later on.

He did this when he was 16...he's 64 now (see his new member post - https://cbrforum.com/forum/new-membe...stions-137765/). So, pics would prob be a stretch from that long ago.

That's correct, we had a old box camera (Brownee) and it would have not worked anyway. I did have some pictures of the 1947 HD and they are packed away.. have not seen them years. I use to ride the old HD with my dad's wool lined WW2 navy suit. I wore a welder helmet with the colored glass out and it was warm and I rode all winter long. In those days.. the winter cold was in the minus numbers all winter long and the river froze over every year. The weather has changed and we have mild winters in PA and hardly any snow... times have changed.
I used this 1947 HD to pull a big bob sled up a 4 mile hill with chains on (worked well). We had tons of fun in those days and still share these times with my friends and we laugh & laugh.
