i too am sick of seeing people doing irresponsible things and blaming cops or other people for their actions. if you do the crime, do the time. YES, doing a wheelie on public streets is wreckless! is it not obvious why i do not have a wreckless driving ticket? oh wait....its b/c i dont do wheelies on public streets! hell, i have never even been pulled over on my bike.

people are typically going to have the im doing this to be cool attitude, but as the 'responsible' parties, we also need to assume the responsibility to promote the advocacy of safe riding. not saying you guys dont, just making a point.

Stuntins cool, so long as it's the right place. I don't think anyone can complain about stunting in a closed lot or even a deserted/not busy one, I mean, it's your bike, if you want to bang it up, have at it, but it's cool. Slow speeds for the most part, and if it goes bad, its you and/or your bike thats getting busted up. I don't think anyone here is anti-stunt, just anti-stunt on pubic roads that makes us as a whole look stupid and puts others at risk for YOUR decissions. So stunt away in a closed lot, if I see ya, I'd probably stop and watch. Better than wheeling into me on the highway.

1. Depends. If I was reckless, no. If I get a ticket for going 64 in a 60 at the end of the month, I blame the cop who is part of a system that uses traffic laws as a revenue generator. "Speed limits are there for a reason," and that reason is not always safety. Do some research on this. Some cops ARE ********. Not all of them. Those of you on this board who feel like cops can do no wrong, or are justified in doing whatever the **** they want because they're cops are just as bad as the people on this board who think that all cops are out to make their lives miserable. There IS a middle ground. Some cops are dicks, enforcement is extremely selective and based on things like race, income, vehicle etc., and some cops are stand up guys who are actually serving the public. but I'm sick of the knee-jerk reactions to every cop story on the internet.

And just for the record, I have two speeding tickets in my truck, none on my bike. One ticket was for 64 in a 60, and the other was 42 in a 35.

2. Depends what you mean by "in the way." If the cager does something illegal to get in my way, like changing lanes without signaling or wandering across the centerline, you're damn right it's the cagers fault, even if I'm going a little over the speed limit.

3. Depends. Did you go over the ground rules before you ride? Did you inform him that your pace is faster than his, and set up a plan to wait for him every few miles? If so, it's not really your fault. Otherwise, you are partially to blame, but ultimately, each rider is in control of his own machine and bears full responsibility for its safe operation.

4. Only if it IS the cagers fault. I've been in one accident. **** turned left in front of me on a green. His fault. It depends on each situation. If i don't know the facgts, I won't assign blame.

5. Only if he IS a dick. Cop can give you a ticket for a wheelie and not be a dick. Or he can run his mouth at you for ten minutes, insult you, hassle you, tack on more tickets for a non-DOT blinker and tire treads out of spec, and then give you a wheelie ticket. Then he's a dick because he's a DICK, not because he gave you a wheelie ticket.

+1
I think as a whole, society is rapidly going away from personal accountability. Hell most of my co-workers will not admit to even the smallest screwups. I know only one who will, and you don't even have to confront him about it, he will come right to you and lay it all out. A true responsible man. Kinda like: you break it, you bought it. But with life.

I agree 100%. Accountibility is something that isn't demonstrated much anymore.

If you do something illegal and get caught for it, you're to blame, end of story.

Stunts should be done somewhere permissable. If it's in a parking lot or wherever, and you get injured, it's your fault. It wouldn't surprise me the way things are nowadays that someone could get hurt in a parking lot then try to sue the property owner over it. In reality, the owner could file a trespassing charge against you depending on the situation.

If you're riding with a newbie (like me). Out of courtesy, you should at least try to stay within their limits. If you don't and they try to keep up, it's the newbie's fault if they get injured. You don't have control over their bike, they do.

To ride one of these machines, you need to be a mature adult. Maturity isn't just age, it's a state of mind. You bought the bike, you assume the risks of riding one both in safety and legality. Not all accidents are going to be your fault just because of the inherient danger of riding something smaller relative to other vehicles with which you share the road, but you can alleviate some of that risk by being mature, responsibleand safe.

You do the crime, you do the time. I may get mad, but it's not at the cop (or car or other drivers). I'm mad I got caught doing something stupid. I agree with you that most people want blame someone else most of the time. Sportbikes are fun and sure they go really fast but if you do, watch out. You are the only one responsible for your actions.

ORIGINAL: TheX
1. if you get caught speeding, do you blame the cop?
2. if you're speeding and a car gets in your way, is it the cagers fault?
3. If you take a noob rider out and you lead him beyond his limits, is it at least partially your fault?
4. If you get into any accident that involves a car, is it the cagers fault?
5. If you get a ticket for doing wheelies on the freeway, even though you know it's illegal is it the cop being a d!ck?
1. No, i dont blame the cop when i get caught. I blame him for bein an asshat for given me another ticket lol.
2. Yes, just like when im not speeding...its still their dumbass fault for bein over 80 w/ a license and damn near hitting me cause they dont bother to look.
3. I mostly ride alone but when i do ride with somebody, i never do this. To damn dangerous. I tend to go at it slow.
4. Fortunately, ive never been involved in an accident wit a car while on the bike. I guess it would depend on the situation really. If he pulled out in front of me like an ******* or hit me from behind then yes. If i ran into him cause i wasnt payin attention then im the asshat.
5. Yes...at first. Ill be pissed. Then after a min or two i realize that im a dumbass and shoulda looked first to make sure he aint there.

And stuntin aint all that bad.Now Iaint that good at it butjust likeriding on the track, its just another part of riding. Some people might not agree or they might think that its childish or imature but thats usually the 40 somethings that just bought a bike cause they are going thru some midlife crisis and end up getting rid of it the next season. Everybody has been stupid on these things, if u havent i will either call ur bluff or say that ur probably afraid to see what these machines can do (and u should give me ur bike so i have something else to ride when mine breaks down again lol). I give mad respect to somebody who can ride a highchair circle wheelie in a lot or have the fastest time around the track. But, they all started doing that ****e somewhere and thats in the streets so it aint going away...probably ever.
