RE: Concealed carry works
The question Jules originally posed: "I see that that works in this case and I know and understand and respect you guys opinions on your guns etc.. But how does that translate to the UK??" is easily answered. It doesn't. The UK is a different society with a far different history and attitude toward firearms and self-protection than is the United States. In the U.S. a good percentage of the population has grown up with firearms and are familiar with their use. We also have grown up with a tradition of independence and taking care of ourselves. I believe (and correct me if I am wrong) that very few in the UK have grown up with firearms in their homes or are familiar with their use. And, like most European countries, they have a centuries old tradition of looking to their government to protect them.
Given those differences it is doubtful that a U.S. type of firearm society would work well in the UK. Its population in general would not allow it.

I have been watching this thread Jules for a while
I see you got all !!!! the std lectures from all !! the usual gun totting crew ...
Did yu notice the use of bold caps lock by a certain few ??? funny stuff hey Jules ...
Its like ..." hey you listen to me or I might shoot you too " yu gotta love reading it though
A bit of advice Jules ..if you want pain ....don't post gun stuff ....go stand out on the road a let the cars run over your feet ..it would be way less painful than arguing with this lot ...
At the end of the day Jules ...we are the lucky ones and I feel so sorry for people that have to think like they do , let alone live like they do with guns missy...
BTW Jules : yu gotta remember that you can only post vids and Gorey stuff about shootings , murder , and maiming .....yu cant Actually talk about the guns , because aparently the guns have nothing to do with it silly girl ....??

i also think taking one or two cases and saying look carrying a concealed weapon is a good thing it curbs crime. this case could have turn out just as bad if he was shot by the would be robbers. im not not against guns my self i down own any but i also dont belive in forcing other into my own personal beliefs.

but the true intention of the second amendment was so that if the government ever step out side of its bounds it was the right and the duty of the people to over throw the government. the idea was that guns were are protection from are government and are protection of are rights.
at least in a very basic form. there is more to it then that.

and....
by answering your post I am only going to inflame this thread more mate.. but ..WTF
You guys keep rattling it at me ..
I only ansered Jules to save her from any more dribble on the subject..
Sure a heart wrenching vid of a sad event and HER personal reasons for backing the 2nd Am/ but nothing will convince me that having more fire arms in easy reach of everyone will stop **** like that happening ..
Like what was rattled at me in another thread on this subject ....Its you guys cant see the forest for the trees...
You are going to tell me that if by some chance the guy referred to in that vid had less of a chance getting hold of a gun in the first place , that he may not have committed those murders ...
and yer ..I know he would have used a knife or a bat or kicked everyone to death .... yer yer yer ..heard it all ...
I will type this like Corps does so you can read it better ..ok ..
Yu gotta love the way he does this to near all his posts ...hes a cracker ...
(and thats a good thing Corps ...so stress less mate )
You guys think that having 10's of Millions of armed people wandering around make's you safer ??... gimmy a brake
It could not be the case just by the fact that they all then can at any given time , on the spur of the moment, choose to go off half crazzy and kill if they want or feel like it ..
You do not make yourself safer by arming everyone !!! no friggin way ...
I personally think you have all been de sensitized over along time,to the point where you cant see the real truth with out referring tp your bloody constituion as some sort of a back up defense ..
I cant understand how giving everyone the power to kill without effort is going to help you guys...
Anallergy..
I have a rock in my hands so everyone gets a bigger rock ...
I get a bolder and evereyone goes and gets a bigger bolder ...
Where does it stop?? when everyone can crush everyone at a whim??? then is all balanced and safe??
BTW: I get told I am off topic yet again on this thread about guns and I will fu%$ckin throw one

If you are so against what we're calmly talking about them please read a different thread. No one is trying to change your mind, don't try to change ours.

and why should I go read other threads if I have an opinion on this subject ...
and who is not calm ...you are being a touch presumptuous ??
Could I not say ...
If you do not like my replies why do you not go play in another thread X ??
Yu's love The dreaded one side gun discussion ....
Its ok X ...the mods will come save you and tell me my opinion is off topic in a few seconds as they usually do....
...then you can wave your gun stuff everywhere calmly and without anyone daring to just ask a few questions and point out what might be a little logic from places around the world that do not have your gun problem to as bad a degree ..
catchyu ..
