It was $200ish for me to take the weekend-long MSF course for my endorsement. Well worth it.

Yeah, that's bizarre. Both the beginner AND intermediate MSF courses out here in IL are state-sponsored (free). There are $350 ones offered by local dealerships, but you don't even get your endorsement when you're done, so I never understood that.
