I think you're right. A lower ante should increase the number of players and reduce the chances of fakery toward the end (less $ to lose).

Hmm...IDK, if I quit, what the hell am I going to do with my other hand when I drink coffee?!

You should make it November 2, my birthday bitches, or November 4, election day.

I want in, I'm just scared of what might happen...[]
i know what you can do with your other hand. if i had $20 i'd be in, but i'm broke. i used to smoke marlboro smooths, but now i smoke 1-2 packs of newports a day.

I'll say it again, you guys are rock stars doing this. Quitting is a bitch but it is the smartest thing you can do.

So far I have the following confirmed users who want to join this...

1) Shoortbuss
2) RCR
3) Raven
4) cbrsix
5) thisismyacct
6) StuDog44

The users below have expressed interest, but I have recieved no PM from them...

1) SpiritRR
2) 1997CBR900RRGuy (Shoortbuss & RCR will sponsor)
3) Shadow1

I've also decided to follow suit and donate the money to the American Lung Association if I should happen to win. Let's keep this thing going peeps.

I propose changing the start date to November 3 so that we may have those last few puffs while we're drinkin on the weekend. I also think we should limit this thing to 10 people to give less incentive to cheat UNLESS we can all agree to donate winnings to a charity. Based on the responses, it seems that most everybody agrees that this isn't about the money, but nobody will think less of you if you don't want to agree to this. You can even take back your $20 and donate the rest if you like.

I also had an idea where we can get a forum support sponsor...somebody you've never met who has already quit and has been through it, who you can exchange contact information with and call if you feel the urge to smoke. I'm starting to get really excited about this whole thing people, and I'm starting to think I might have a real chance to kick the cigs for once. Thanks for the great response so far!!!

Oh yea, I actually feel nervous every time I think about this. Its going to be tough for me, at the very least if I dont win I will be able to see how long I can actually go without a smoke.

I nervous too ! I think the support of the group will help alot. I quit drinking when I joined this forum and quit smoking pot last November. Effing gearheads are a good influence on me ! I like the idea of donating the prize money to a charity. My main incentive, now, as with everything in my life, is my son. I figure I will save $200.oo per month and that money will allow me to spend one extra weekend with my boy. I think I can, I think I can ! We are actually going to do this thing ! Thanks shoortbuss. Good job ! Pace, Gris.

Wait, you guy aren't setting this up right. Last man standing isn't going to work. There is a good chance that more than one of you will actually permanently quit. In that case, you split the winnings (or both donate) There has to be a time line as well. I say You can start whenever you want, but the end date has to be at least 4 months. A year is best, as the re-lapses are less likely as time goes on. It's been about three years for me. Definitely happy to be free of it.
