So many things the helper could have done to prevent that from happening. Be safe when you pull over to help!

Stopping in the middle of traffic to "help someone" or "investigate" what is wrong is, obviously, idiotic. It's 2012, pick up your cellphone, call #77 or whatever Non-emergency State Police number and tell them your story. It was a 3 lane Highway. No traffic cone, hazard/emergency lights, flares, road triangles, smoke signals... NOTHING!!! A good attempt at "thinning out the herd."

I might be the minority here, but how is that not solely the drivers fault? Granted, standing in the highway is moronic, day or night, but as a driver, you have a responsibility to operate your vehicle in a safe manner. It appears the driver who struck the pedestrian was complacent, and did not notice the vehicles in front of them swerving to avoid the broken down vehicles.
Ive been guilty of just blindly staring at the vehicle in front of me too, mostly prior to getting a motorcycle and adjusting my road scan (looking ahead, searching for threats, etc)
I think the lack of driver education programs, and nonchalant attitude towards driving in general are a serious problem... Jesus I sound like an old man, lol
Edit -Just saw this was in Russia... but apparently this still happens in the US, as noted by kowen.

The operator of the car(who struck stationary objects) is by no means, NOT AT FAULT, but you can't just stop a vehicle in the middle of traffic, get out of your car, with no emergency signalling.
NOW... onto the motorcycle crash video.. That was horrible!! What made it worse was people just weaving in and out and nobody attempting to help(except for that one dude on the left towards the end.)

my ex girlfriends sister was driving on the motorway one fine eve in a convoy of 4, the first one hit a bloke trying to cross the m'way and she and the other 3 drove over him.
cops took all the cars away to retrieve the body parts from the underside of the cars....
that motorbike 'event' is pretty horrible -saw it about 6 months ago and does make me consider my opinion that riding in a group is safer than solo.
I prefer solo.
