just joined so i could get a look at some of the pics of the bikes here. right now i have a 2003 R-1 and am looking at getting a new bike i have it narrowed down to an 06 1000rr or r-1 i have had the chance to ride both bikes and that is whats making me lean towards the rr.....if anyone has had both or if anyone has any input that would be cool

the r1 is a great bike in its own right but i like the "feel" of the honda better. just out of curiosity, how come you're not considering the new gix 1000? that's pretty impressive as well.

welcome. Opinions......hmmm. You can get a lot of those. Each bike (Gsxr,R1,RR,ZX) has its finer points. I think the most impressive feature of the Yamahas is the fly by wire throttle system. Zero throttle lag is better line time, period. Does it handle as well as the RR, no way. Will either go as fast as the new ZX14, no. Therefore you should prlly decide what factors mean the most to you and weigh out your options. Me, my RR has plenty of speed, brutal accel and in my opinion the BEST handling of the group,, Ducati not included. I will take superior handling characteristics over 1 second or 10 mph anyday. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Well put FFonaRR.

But then again, it's still a matter of opinion and you're asking people who all ride CBR's!!!

Have the RR, ridden the R1; IMO, the yamaha is more comfortable to ride for longer periods of time, but very 600 like, as you really have to keep the RPMs up to really get power, I also feel considerably more stable at speed on the RR than i did on the R1; plus i personally think the RR is a better looking bike. Performance on paper is so similar its really not worth discussing, both scoots are nice, but the RR just feels more of a complete bike to me....good luck and let us know what you get.

thanks for the great input... to answer a couple questions i am not getting the gixxer for a couple reasons -everybody has one, i dont like the way it looks and (i couldnt think of 3 so 2 will have to do).....

i agree both the yamaha and honda are good bikes but one of the turnoffs for me is i dont want to have to ride a liter bike like a 600...the yamaha is just too weak in the revs it is used by most people

I can finish 3 for you:

The engine is absolute garbage. Kawasaki makes a better motor than Suzuki Now that's saying something.

Get the RR, It's strong and will last forever.
