New Guy to Motorcycles
Hey guys. I have been into cars ever since I was 15 (7 years now) and I bought my first sports car at 16, a 1993 Nissan 300ZX that I still own today. I started racing auto-x with my Z when I was 17 and have been doing auto-x since and quite a few track days at 4 different tracks. Just a couple pics of my Z:
And then last year, I graduated college and started my Mechanical Engineer job at Black & Veatch. I wanted a new daily driver as I was getting very bored of my '97 Nissan 200SX, so I bought a 2004 Mazda RX-8 and I plan on using it as my auto-x car and just use my Z as my track car as the RX-8 is a much more competitive auto-x car.
Now onto the bike. I have wanted a bike for the past couple of years and have ridden on my dad's 1987 Kawasaki 750, a friend's 1998 Yamaha YZF-600, and another friend's 2006 Honda CBR600RR, so I am not completely new to riding, but this is my first bike and still am pretty fresh at it.
Anyway, I picked up a 2001 Honda CBR600F4i. It has 9,800 miles on it and is bone stock. I am very excited for it to get warm so I can start riding it. Last week, I picked up a Shoei X-Eleven helmet, Alpine Stars T-stunt jacket, and Alpine Stars SP-2 gloves. I was told by a friend who has been riding bike's for a while and he says mine needs a new chain, so I am looking for one of those (I have no idea where to go for motorcycle parts), and the battery dies after about a week of sitting, so I will probably get a new one of those, too.
But here are some pics:

Her new home!
Sorry for the long post. I am looking forward to learning all about motorcycle's! I have always done all my own work on my cars and plan on doing the same on my bike.

Nice bike. Me wants one! I tried the 2 board loading ramp when I picked up mine. But my bike made toothpicks pretty fast
Too hard to tell from the pics why your friend said you need a new chain. Looked a lil rusty but can't tell. The F4i guys will prolly point you in the right direction for the type of chain you need. Once you got brand / type down, hit ebay. And if you replace the chain, it's advised you replace both sprockets as well at the same time.
Parts you can get from many places. Ebay is good for simple parts. For more complicated parts that you'll want new here are a couple good sites:

Rubber side down!

Well, I am saving up for a house of my own. I'm not going to move into an apartment and throw away my money with rent, so I'm gonna save up for a down payment on a house, which will hopefully be in a couple of years.

Great intro and a beautiful bike, Z Freak!! Man, I love the look of those silver and black F4is.
I think it looks dam fine just how it is stock... (well, maybe a screen and tailjob... )
I like the pic of the bike peeking through the back window of the truck.... lol...
Congrats on the bike, man, and enjoy the CBRF show!
(You've got some sweet cars, too, btw)
