Default Hurricane with no spark

Hi everybody I'm new to the forum and somewhat new owner of a 1988 CBR1000F Hurricane... I've had the bike for a while but haven't ever done much with it. Just recently started tryin to get Her up and running... I got it runnin and took Her for a spin , ran great for a day or so then got to where it wouldn't start unless I jumped it off with my truck and it had to be runnin also. Then even with jumping it off it would only run for a couple minutes then it would shut off as if I hit the kills switch... Help PLEASE !!

greetings & Salutations!!

These older bikes tend to have electrical issues due to old crispy wiring. Let's do some basic measurements to find where problem is.

1. measure battery voltage with everything OFF. volts=???

2. measure battery voltage with key ON, kill-switch= RUN, volts=??

3. measure battery voltage when pushing START button, volts = ??

1. 12.3 volts , everything off

2. 11.8 volts , key and kill switch on

3. 9.5 volts , turning engine over

I know that's too low , but it still does it if i jump it with My truck. Voltage goes up in all areas but still no spark from the plugs , or an intermediate spark every once in a while... Also I don't have battery voltage at coils black/white wire with key on , it's only around 9.5 , when jumped with my truck it goes up to around 12.5 volts...
