Question 87 cbr 600 wont start/ no spark

Hey guys i have an 87 cbr 600 hurricane. Its not getting spark and im not sure why. when i turn the key the lights come on and when i hit the start button the lights dim and the head light goes out but no sounds or anything. I replaced the solonoid and charged the battery and still nothing. if i jump the solonoid you can hear the starter going but the bike still wont start. Any ideas what this might be or what i should try checking next? im at a loss and i really want to ride so any help is appreciated.

Sounds like you need a new battery especially as you say the bike won't turn over after charging it. Try and get it started by using jump leads from another 12 volt system vehicle then check the voltage across the battery with a volt meter. You should see a voltage of around 13.5 to 14.2 volts if the charging system is working ok. If the voltage is low, then try a good battery on your bike before splashing out on a new one. If the bike does start with jump leads using the starter button, then I would reckon your battery faulty. Another check you can make once you get the engine running via the jump leads, is to rev the engine with your headlight on and see if the light brightens up. If it does then it would indicate that the charging system is ok. If not then you need to do further checks on the rectifier/alternator etc. Let us know what you find and if jump starting with leads does the trick?

This sounds stupid but check your kill switch. I once hitch hiked 15 miles cause i did not notice my kill switch was on the off position. This was on my 600 F2.

So today I took the tank off and the ignition housing apart and charged the battery. All of a sudden the start button was making the connection and I could hear the starter going. So i put the tank back on and added gas to the mix. It was sputtering but it still didnt start and the battery was losing charge fairly quickly. I got it checked today and they said the battery was good to go. and to make it worse when i put the ignition housing back together the start button was no longer working again. Any ideas what to do next?
