Intro My 1988 CBR1000F
Hi there. New to this forum. I'm from the windy city. Had a 1988 CBR1000F until recently and I currently have a 1999 CBR1100XX BLACKbird. Really just wanted to jump on and let you know that my old Hurricane is currently up on CrashedToys. I had an accident with the bike last year and the insurance company totalled it. I'm not in possession of the bike and have no affiliation with crashedtoys. If you want it you will need to bid on it at crashedtoys. If any of you need parts for a 1988 CBR1000F and or can fix plastic I would say it might be worth your while to take a look.

I purchased this bike new in 1988. 12,000 miles and change. The bike was pristine prior to the crash. I crashed it in August.
I can show you before and after pics if anyone is interested in knowing more about the bike. It was running fine after the crash. I rode it to few places to get estimates when I was still thinking of keeping it. The damage was to the plastics. No frame damage. Bike still rode straight and true. The crash was a pretty minor slide and the rightcowl and nose cone took most of the abuse. The right side can has a small scrape. The bar end is scrapped along with the brake lever. The battery seemed iffy after the crash. It was an older battery. Tires would need to be replaced. The front fender has a small scrape but could most likely be touched up. I don't know the exact condition of the bike since it left my possession. They didn't treat it real gentle when they came and picked it up. They strapped it down across the good side plastic. I still have a corbin gunfighter seat and the stock windscreen in my possession. The gas tank was not dented and had no rust in it when it left my possesion. It was always garaged by me and I only got caught in the rain a few times for short distances. I don't like riding in rain. Once again, I don't have this bike in my possession. I am not parting it out or selling it. If you want it you will need to get it from crashedtoys auction. It would have a salvage title now but I am sure that this bike is fixable if you have plastic for that side or can repair plastics. I'm able to provide information on the bike as I used to own it. I didn't want to give it up but they gave me too much to not take the $$$. The buy back from the insurance company was too high when you factored in the cost of repair along with the buy back. I would like to think that a CBR enthusiast would get it and restore it just to know that its back on the road. Should have a lot of miles left in that engine. I did have regular oil changes done every year. I didn't put a lot of miles on it because I have typically owned 2-3 bikes at the same time and started a family around the time that I purchased that bike. I only do day rides these days as weekends and vacations are typically spent with the kids. I did not abuse this bike or race it. I did run it up from time to time on the highway as any self respecting owner of such a nice bike would do.
If anyone is interested in additional details let me know.

Slurring Online.......I think would get most a ticket Pete

There's a giggly young girl
with her head in a whirl
For too deep in the bottle she's gazing
And for those in the know
We'd say Jules is too slow, and so slurry- her typing's amazing !
Just for you, Kiddo !

Oopps I forgot my welcome

HI and welcome Strek!
Well, you are close to me but alas, I don't own a 1000 Hurricane (used to a have a 600 though) so I would have no use for the bike [&o]
Glad to have you on board neighbor!
There's a 'Junkie' in town, the cop said, with a frown
A Duhamel we think he is riding,
But we all do agree, the bike's neat as can be
Such a pity he's gone into hiding..........
I can do this all day................

Thanks for the warm welcome. I did look for faring parts before letting the insurance company have it. I couldn't locate any. Maybe I didn't know where to look for them.
The insurance company gave me a good amount for the bike and the buy back and the cost of repairs seemed too high.
The salvage company put it up for auction.
Looks like the auction ended at $825.00. Someone got a great bike at a very low price. If it was someone that is on this board and they would like to know more about the history of the bike please let me know. Thanks again. I am thinking of replacing the Hurricane and have looked at the for sale section here.
