Are you saying it doesnt display when you initially turn the key to the on position? Or are you saying it doesnt display while riding. The fuel gauge only displays two times to my understanding. Firstly, when you turn the key to the on position when it does its self checks. It will display briefly and then disappear again. Secondly, it will display when you are low on fuel. I believe its under 1 gallon left it will display the fuel gauge. That number could be incorrect, im sure someone else has more knowledge on that than me since I have only had my bike for a week. The fuel gauge will not display while riding and on a full tank. Hope this helped!

Howdy. Sounds like you both can use these:
Owners manual for the 2003-2006 F4i
Service manual for the F4i

Not sure on the exact amount of gas left either. But Failient is 99% correct on the fuel gauge operation. The other 1% is the gauge will remain after filling up until the bike is actually started Filling up and turning the key to on won't shut it off.

Hey there Inferno... yeah, it's not a fuel gauge, but a reserve indicator. There's tons of F4i owners here and it's a very informative forum, so feel free & make yourself at home.
