Fuel Gauge
Just of late my fuel gauge seems to be not giving a correct reading. Today I was doing a 250 Kls round trip and at 197 Ks it was reading approx 1/4 of a tank left so I thought I had better top up for weekend, all good so far, so when I got home this afternoon the gauge just didnt go straight down to " E " it slowing dropped and after a hour ot two hasnt gone all the way that it was, it has never done. When you hit the key the needle goes to where it should be BUT not as fast as it has in the past? As it has never done this before does anyone have any ideas ??
The fuel gage works by the use of a variable resister, an arm sweeping across the windings.
Tipicaly the sending unit works or doesn't. That's strange that I would act differantly.

Hi even stranger ! after a week of that happening it is all good again ??
I had a small problem the day it happened with the WHITE wire under the left hand side cover came apart and the bike run just on battery power before stopping so I simply rejoined and after a week it has all settled down. STRANGE I know

Yep! You know what? I was going to mention that the only thing that could give odd readings was maybe a drop in voltage as that's what the sweeper arm does.
That's funny. Now you know how to use your fuel gage as a volt meter.
