Default Where's the engine VIN disappeared?

Ok so I finally got a chance to get the clothes off my newly acquired F2. Found the frame number on the right fork and on the plate next to the right fork. All matches up fine. Couldnt find the engine VIN number though. According to the Haynes manual and searching the forum it should be in one of the following locations?

Not here:

I have searched but no joy. Anyone able to identify another possible location?

Could only find the obvious markings:

Couldn't find any evidence of scraping/grinding so am a bit lost for what to do next

Well - I don't see it either, but what do you need it for?

I see you're in the UK, but in the US, engine VIN isn't required to register a vehicle.

Normally there is a "block" that is cast into the engine casing that has the ID stamped into it - your case ippears to have had that block ground down, unless the European engines were different than US.

Here's where the stamping should appear in every reference I can find:

I don't have the registration document so have sent off for one and am awaiting a reply. I have been told it can take as long as 6 weeks. I have some paperwork here which matches the frame number to the registration number. All I was looking to do was match in the engine number so that I know the bike is not cloned before I start spending time and money on it
I guess I will have to wait for the reg document.

Thanks for looking into the location for me. It really is a very good job if somebody has ground it off. It is very smooth indeed with no raised surface.
The only thing I can think of is if somebody swapped out the engine from a breaker who had ground off the number.
