I've been wondering, what do most people wear when riding? I really don't like wearing jeans, especially in the summer, so I'd prefer to wear shorts, but from what I've been seeing that's usually a no-no, although I do see people wearing shorts when riding. I did order a jacket, gloves, and a new helmet which I'll be wearing whenever I ride, but just wondered about the shorts, and also whether everyone wears a sweatshirt/jacket when riding or just a t-shirt? I know weather plays a part in what you wear and don't wear, but just checking to see everyones opinion.

 

This forum is pretty safety conscious. The majority of us wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of shorts on these bikes (no pun intended). Same thing with the jackets. I've ridden on 100+ days wearing my leather jacket and kevlar riding jeans. Honestly, the only times I was hot (that I actually noticed) was when I was off the bike or stopped at a light. There's a saying going round here:

If it's too hot for gear, it's too hot to ride.

Yeah, I've been wearing sliders kevlar jeans in addition to an armored jacket, boots, gloves, and helmet. I've been real happy with them, too. They were like $75/pr and they're really tough/thick denim in addition to the kevlar butt, knees, and thigh panels. Little warmer than reg jeans, but def worth it.

 

Shes hot even with the rash!!! But definately, point taken. Wear your gear boys AND girls, its not worth not wearing it!

 

Wow, thanks for all the advice! I'll definitely be wearing jeans more often now! Especially after seeing that pic. And she doesn't even look like she's in any pain. Ouch!

 

That pic is from a year later according to her story. And I bet you she can tell you the day's rain forecast better than your local weatherman

 

I have the Shift Torque jeans. I like em a lot. makes me a feel a bit safer, and I think they look pretty good too.

I don't think you realize. When you get rashed like that, you are a 3rd Degree Burn Victim. With one exception: in a 3rd degree burn, the nerves in the burn area are destroyed so it doesn't hurt as much.

Otherwise it's the same. The skin will never grow back naturally. The grafted skin will never look the same. You'll be in the hospital for a long time while they manage the wounds. And the PT is gonna suck. Wear gear
