I read a statistic once (don't know where...too long ago) that at 100kph human skin would be completely worn away after just 30cm on dry blacktop. I'm not sure how far you'd slide at 100kph but far enough to be fu#ked up for the rest of your life, that's for sure.

We're a cheery bunch aren't we? Still, I think it's a good idea if this sort of thing comes up on here now and then. Most are already wearing good gear and it's everybody's choice for sure whether to kit up or not, but maybe somebody just getting into bikes might just think "f#ck it, I might wear a helmet and leathers just in case these old ba5tards are right"

 

Sunovabitch did this to me this morning on the way to work.

I'm at the head of traffic at a light in the a right turn only lane. Got there 100% legally, no lane splitting or filtering or cutting between cars. I'm in the left hand part of the lane so I can turn into the near lane easier. I'm watching my mirrors so I see this a$$hole coming up behind me. The idiot splits the lane with me. I'm not happy but I shake it off saying to myself "If he's in that big a hurry, he can go ahead". The light turns green...

AND ****ER GOES STRAIGHT INSTEAD OF TURNS. If I had decided to try to turn before him, he'd have t-boned me. He absolutely did not care there was a motorcycle in the lane. Nor did he care what I might have done. And there was ZERO chance he didn't see me there. It was 06:45 so I had my LED kit going in color change / breathe mode.
