Request for medical help for my wife

Request for medical help for my wife
Not the usual CBR-related request but...
My wife suggested I reach out to you folks who seem to be knowledgeable on everything!
She has had the following symtpoms since January (when a schoolkid sneezed in her face); she's 50 and having associated 'women's problems' - doctors and specialists individually all say this is the reason for all symptoms but I'm sure not all of them are menopause-related.
Unexplained weight loss (10 kg since February)
Sleep disturbance (max 3 hours' sleep per night)
Bladder and bowel insensitivity (recent)
White, furred tongue
Dry mouth
Dry nasal passages
Lack of tears
Itchy tongue (after certain foods)
'Lump' and itching in throat
Increased heart rate several times a day
Thanks guys and girls!
Howard

Yes, well that is quite a different sort of question for a motorcycle forum Howard! But hey, this is the Saloon and (almost) anything goes.
I sympathise with your Wife for these problems, but would have to defer to the Medicos.
My assumption is you have scoured the 'net for info and haven't found anything that addresses all the symptoms.
Severe Menopause Symptoms | 34-menopause-symptoms.com
It could be a combination of menopause with heightened allergic reaction to some foods?
Now I'll point out that as a Doctor I make a great Entomologist!
Best of luck and I hope your Wife gets back to some level of normality with her health.
Cheers, SB

Wow, you are certainly raising the bar for The Saloon aren't you?
You forgot to mention her last symptom; "Even expecting that some bunch of crusty old buggers that ride old motorcycles are somehow medical experts now"
But,yeah I'm willing to throw a potential answer out there.
Menopausal + check for throat polyps.
I offer this opinion as a surveyor, not a doctor.

Now I'm no doctor of anything, and you've probly heard this from a real doctor already but...
Some, but not all, symptoms to me are hinting of a malfunction in the nutrient absorption system. Not knowing her lifestyle, weight or anything else I'm assuming that a healthy versatile diet is carried out. It doesn't really hurt to try some so I'd suggest something like iron+C+B12 vitamins because some of those symptoms can be related to anemia, and some others to insufficient vitamin C, a.k.a. scurvy. All you can lose really is around 30 quid to a health shop. Give it a few weeks. Up here blueberry season is at it's peak and the fresh forest ones has more nutrients than Goji berries so I'd give them a shot as well. Now even though if it helps they only treat the symptoms, the main thing is to find the cause. Now this is a bit out there but do you like to eat sushi or other forms of raw fish? Cause, laugh or not, she might have worms.
Just my 2c, hope she gets better quick!

"Some times: after drinking beer, I wake up with quite a severe pain in my head.
Is this a sign of gluten intolerance?"
Take two urinal cakes and call me in the morning
Actually, back to the original topic, I did experience nearly all of those symptoms when Mrs. Woof was going through "The Change"

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
She's seen so many specialists and all tests have been OK but she's thinking 'they're missing something'.
Latest diagnosis from a particularly arrogant neurologist is 'somatisation syndrome'. Her symptoms are real, no one knows why, and they are worsened by worry - a never-ending spiral...
In my mind, "The Change" is no 1 suspect but she's in denial... (thanks Seb, Woofer)
Diet could be no 2... (thanks Matt, Kiwi)
Beer is not on the list!
