Default I actually find this VW-Audi drama quite amusing

Such very clever software designers.

To come up with a program that recognizes when the engine is being emission tested, and then remaps the injection system to pass the emission test is actually very clever (if perhaps slightly misguided).

Not usually a conspiracy theorist; but if they're clever enough to do that; what other little tweaks can they build into the brain of the car?

I guess the next next logical step is the aftermarket parts.

Jump in your car one day; and it just refuses to start.

"You have now traveled 80,001 km, our recommended service interval for timing belts is 80,000 km. Please replace your timing belt immediately with a genuine VW belt (which includes an RFI device that will talk to the brain). Please note that cheaper aftermarket belts will not have the approved integrated RFI exclusive to VW and Apple and your car still won't go."

That's one way to skirt the emissions issue.

After years of buying electronics that expire after 366 days. I applaud Audi for engineering something that appears to hold up after time

It is their way of getting ready to enter F1, I suspect that is what Mercedes have done to their engines in F1 and VW is just wanting an even playing field.

Nice find Seb.

It never ceases to amaze me, that how many people have so much time on their hands, that they have nothing better to do than create a little Youtube giggle like that.

Maybe I need to win Lotto so I could do stuff like that; but I probably don't have either the computer skills or the comedic talent.

I'm probably better off just sticking with being a surveyor, although today was a particularly sh!te day.

Don't get too impressed my NZ brother. That video has been redone many times. Whomever just changes the subtitles to fit the event of the day.
Having said that, the original person who did it has a pretty good imagination.

Gotta love the people who have the time to do it though (though some can't spell or use apostrophes).

Helps me get through breakfast in the morning *

Cheers, SB

* Disclaimer: I have a Mark 1 (1981) 1500cc Golf Diesel - and I love it!

Can they come up with something that'll make me handsome when my picture is being taken?
