"Should I replace the sprockets as well?"

Oh man what a question.........but yeah I'd put new cogs on there as it
would be nice to give the new chain a virgin set to hang around with.

As for switching sizes -- see attached chart ......it pretty much says it all

I've found biggest usable front is 18 tooth smallest well as small as you want
but the trade off in smaller fronts is increased wear on it and chain.

That's one clean looking machine .....how many miles ?

Oh yeah stock is 17teeth front .........42 tooth rear (Ratio 2.47) 114 chain links

I'm running 18 / 44 myself (Ratio 2.44)for highway, but pop on a 16 /44
everynow and then to run the mountain twistys around here. (Ratio 2.75)

116 links needed for the 18/44 and 16/44..........so calculate links needed
before you go chopping your new chain toooooooo short

CBR1000F94,
I run 17/44. It seems to give a little more pick-up than stock, but you give up a little when cruising. For example, in 6th gear, I'm running around 4kRPM at 70mph. I think I can hit about 65-70MPH in 1st gear at redline. Just FYI.
I like it like this.

As far as tires, well, that's a highly debated topic.
I've run the D220s. They weren't that great, but not horrible tires. You can put some miles on them, but they aren't the most predictable and my front cupped pretty bad. I'm running a softer dunlop qualifier right now, and I'm tearing them up pretty fast. If I were you, I'd look at the Michelin Pilot Road 2's if they aren't much more expensive. I've heard good things from Pete (shadow) and from many other folks about their versatility. Also, do a search on tires here, and read reviews on tire websites. It's all about what type of riding you want to do, and what your budget is.

Now on to your bike....
I just want to say... DAMN, that thing looks sweet. Absolutely stock, just like I like 'em. You found a diamond in the rough, for sure.

Thanks for the great info guys! It is much appreciated. I'll look into the Michelins for sure! I'll probably keep the sprockets to the stock sizes to maintain the overall stock appearance and ride. Besides, there aren't any twisties in south Florida any how. That's why I'm a track guy most of the time.

I removed, sanded down and repainted the bar ends yesterday. The original black paint had begun to flake off. They look as good as new now. I'll do the same for the rear grab rail. Sand it down and repaint it white. I'm debating doing the same for the center stand. It's very rusted. I'm not sure if I'll need to replace it or not. It may be too far gone. You may not be able to tell from the photos but, the rear plastic fender also has some sun fade issues.

I've had a blast working on the bike and I'll be returning to these forums often to retrieve insight and advice from you wonderful CBR1000F pilots. Thanks again for all your help!
