its a lot easier to use a threaded rod. just cut it to length and put a nut on each end. no special tools needed.

Would this work on a F4? I was looking at doing this today but when I was shopping I got stuck since I don't have the spools yet what is the total length of the extra bolt we need for the other side.

Very good idea! I have t-rex stands with spools and pads for my f2 and been thinking how to get the spools on without too much modification. I guess this is the way to do it! Thanks!

thanks for the great idea.
i know it's been a while but what size rod would be adequate? I have some 1/4" rod laying around, that's why I ask.

Just a little heads up. If you have the stand that lifts from under the swingarm AND aftermarket rearsets with solid/non folding pegs, you could use automotive jack stands under your footpegs. And then remove your rear wheel when needed and its more stabile than using the race stand only.
