Default Swingarm spools

For those that have installed them; did you drill and tap or weld the attachment points.

I ran my fingers along the swing arms to make sure I wasn't crazy when I couldn't find them.

Hi,

Mine has mounts welded on.

DON'T drill and tap, you'll just damage / weaken the swingarm and I doubt there would be enough meat on the walls of the box section to get a decent thread

What do you need bobbins for? Just buy a paddock stand with cups

They are crash protectors, the spools on that bike are smaller and mounted under the arm.
You make a good point though, there are adjuster blocks with paddock stand mounts, not seen any available for a bike this old though. They look a bit like this

I toyed w/ the idea at one point of welding up the mounts but opted not to do it b/c it isn't absolutely necessary. I've been using a Pit-Bull rear stand for years w/o any problems. I use the Pit-Bull rear stand that has a reversible standard pads & spooled. Since I have more than one bike, I can just flip it over to use as the particular bike requires. Its extremely study & lifts by positioning under the swingarm at the axle. I've used it at the track many times for chain adjustments, tire changes, etc.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

I opted for a stand with the pads and it works good, but I was wondering what others did about the spools, because I have seen them on a few F4s. the Stands not a pitbull but Itll do for my budget.
